Who is Uprooted Gardens?
This business was formed in 2016 by Nick & Liz Campanella with the idea that everyone can grow something edible somewhere. We believe that with a little help and good soil, anyone can grow their own food! Through a personal journey of gardening in South Texas, and volunteering in multiple organizations, the need for something like Uprooted Gardens was recognized by two green-thumbed, love birds. The both of them share a love for all things green and are overwhelmingly excited to share their passion for edible gardening with their hometown.
Nick, Co-founder & Owner
Though he’s a Montana native, he’s got the Texas gardening thing down! Nick is involved in it all! From the building to maintenance, he truly is the backbone of Uprooted Gardens. His favorite is drip irrigation, and loves coming up with new designs for raised beds. Nick is also very involved with various gardening volunteer organizations in Bexar County and throughout South Texas. We also like to thank him for coming up with our business name!
Liz, Co-founder & Owner
Liz has always called San Antonio her home and shares her Roadrunner pride with Nick, as a former baton twirler for the Spirit of San Antonio Marching Band at UTSA. Growing up, she spent her summers on her grandparent’s corn & soybean farm in Iowa and was a member of the FFA throughout her high school career, which is where her love for gardening roots. While working at lululemon athletica, she realized that she much rather be with plants all day than with yoga pants, and soon left the retail life. Liz is also very involved with various gardening clubs and volunteer organizations and is always looking to expand her knowledge in all things herbs, fruits and veggies. Her favorite part of Uprooted Gardens is the planting of new gardens each season and watching them grow!
